Deep Isolation Proposes a Nuclear Waste Disposal Solution to Consolidated Interim Storage at the 2019 RadWaste Summit

Chief Operating Officer Rod Baltzer Introduces the Deep Isolation Solution on September 4, 2019, at the Annual Radwaste Summit in Henderson, Nevada

Henderson, NV – Deep Isolation, a leading innovator in nuclear waste storage and disposal solutions, will be featured at the Radwaste Summit in Henderson, Nevada, September 3-5, 2019. Chief Operating Officer, Rod Baltzer will present the Deep Isolation proposal to isolate nuclear waste in deep horizontal drillholes during the Consolidated Interim Storage panel discussion on Wednesday, September 4,at 1 p.m. local time (PDT). The panel will discuss opportunities and challenges associated with state and local jurisdictions as they seek to site, construct and operate nuclear waste storage facilities. Deep Isolation will also exhibit at the Summit as a featured small business.

“Deep Isolation provides a demonstrated nuclear waste storage and disposal solution that leverages mature drilling technologies, can minimize transportation, and be implemented modularly around the globe,” says Rod Baltzer, Deep Isolation’s COO.  “Our solution can be customized for a country’s needs and specific waste inventory and includes feedback through a local stakeholder engagement process.” 

With some of the world’s most influential government officials and organizations in attendance, the Radwaste Summit is a global forum to discuss challenges and solutions to the management and disposition of radioactive waste including congressional updates, perspectives from the Department of Energy (DOE) Offices of Environmental Management and Nuclear Energy, commercial waste disposal priorities, storage and transportation, and international case studies.

Rod Baltzer is an expert in the low-level radioactive waste industry, generators, and natural storage and disposal capabilities with over 20 years of experience in leadership positions in the industry.  He currently is responsible for the areas of the company that include interactions with communities, utilities, and government entities.

Deep Isolation has gained significant traction this year with a first-ever public demonstration of its technology in January, three technical papers published in the peer-reviewed scientific journal Energies by MDPI and most recently closed a strategic partnership with Bechtel National, Inc., part of the largest engineering and construction company in the United Sates.
