In this webinar, Deep Isolation shared the initial results from the post-closure safety calculations for a generic deep horizontal drillhole repository. Generic calculations are a valuable and necessary step in developing a safety analysis approach that will eventually support the safety assessment of a deep horizontal drillhole repository.
Elizabeth Muller, CEO of Deep Isolation, gave a brief overview of Deep Isolation and discussed the importance of developing generic and site-specific models of the repository system.
Stefan Finsterle, hydrogeologist for Deep Isolation, provided an overview of the report and the significance of the findings. A Q&A session followed.
Rod Baltzer, COO of Deep Isolation will present the Deep Isolation solution in the session, Emerging Solutions for Permanent Disposal at NEI’s Used Fuel Management Conference on Wednesday, May 4th.
Ethan Bates, Director of Systems Engineering for Deep Isolation will be presenting the paper “Features, Events, and Processes Prioritization for Deep Borehole Disposal Concepts in Crystalline Rock and Shale,” in the session, Waste Stabilization and Repository Science on Wednesday, June 15, at the ANS Annual Meeting in Anaheim, CA.
The co-founders of Deep Isolation will discuss their technology and business model at a panel on Spent Nuclear Fuel and High-Level Wastes at this week’s 13th Asian Leadership Conference in Seoul. The panel is scheduled for July 13, 2022, and will be moderated by Hwang Il Soon, Chair Professor at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST).
Chris Parker, Managing Director for Deep Isolation EMEA will be presenting the paper, “Canisters for Radioactive Waste Transport, Storage and Disposal in Boreholes,” at the International Conference on Nuclear Waste Treatment, Packaging and Storage (ICNWTPS) in London, United Kingdom, as part of the digital program of Engineering and Physical Sciences Research, August 16-17, 2022.
Ethan Bates, Director of Systems Engineering for Deep Isolation will participate as a panel member in the plenary session, “Cool New Reactors Coming to You Soon! But what about the Waste?” at the International High-Level Radioactive Waste Management Conference (IHLRWM). This conference is an embedded topic at the ANS Winter Meeting and Technology Expo in Phoenix, Arizona, November 13-17, 2022. The plenary session will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 8 a.m. MST.
Join nearly 3,000 attendees from more than 30 countries to discuss and share ideas on many crosscutting topics including: robotic handling, remote systems, new technologies, radioactive and hazardous waste characterization, treatment storage, packaging, transportation, and disposal, engineering design and construction, environmental laboratories, decontamination, decommissioning, and environmental remediation – as well as emerging topics such as small modular reactors, clean energy, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).
